A Microsoft almost has once once more become the most valuable company in the world — which would make it surpass the Apple. Now with a market value of US$2.859 trillionthe Redmond giant briefly surpassed Apple (whose capitalization closed in US$2.886 trillion) along the day.
More precisely, at the start of negotiations this Thursday (11/1), the company founded by Bill Gates had managed to surpass its rival during specific moments, reaching US$2.903 trillion em market cap. With the close of trading, however, Apple managed to reverse this run, distancing itself from Microsoft by approximately US$27 billion.
Microsoft, it is worth remembering, has already surpassed Apple in market value several times since 2018; the last time this happened was in 2021.
This time, analysts attribute it, in part, to the Redmond giant’s strong support for artificial intelligence through its support for OpenAI — in contrast to Apple’s less visible efforts in this same sector.
The growth in Microsoft’s market value is influenced, as experts point out, by the growing success of its solutions in remote work, a field in which the company has been standing out.
Apple has recently faced falling profits, with lower-than-expected sales across iPads, wearables and Macs. There is uncertainty regarding the performance of its new product, the Vision Pro, due to its high price and low sales expectations.
Apple will present results for its first quarter of fiscal 2024 on February 1st. We’ll see how the “fight” goes between the $AAPL
it’s at $MSFT
from here to there.
