The manufacturer TSMC has made its first demonstrations of 2nm chips with Apple. Mass production would be ready for the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025.

Innovation should not stop at Apple. After launching the A17 Pro, its first chip using the TSMC 3 nm manufacturing process, the firm is already preparing for the production of a 2 nm chip. It’s the Financial Times which reports that TSMC would have made demonstrations to the American giant.
A pace that slows down
If TSMC has been able to offer significant improvements to its manufacturing process over the years, and thus allow Apple to market increasingly powerful smartphones, we must admit that we perceive a slowdown in the pace. It is increasingly difficult to refine the manufacturing process without changing the paradigm.
Apple is TSMC’s largest customer each year, and its preferred partner. He always gets the scoop on new manufacturing processes. Mass production of 2nm chips is planned for 2025 and Apple should once once more be the first to benefit. Nvidia would also be in the running to equip its future GeForce RTX cards and its chips dedicated to AI.
In a press release sent to the Financial Times, TSMC promises that its 2nm process will be the most efficient in the industry. Obviously, the firm does not mention the price of such a change. We can imagine that it will once once more be reserved for the most expensive products, and in particular the iPhone Pro range. If TSMC does not encounter a power-on delay, it will therefore be the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025 which should benefit from these new chips.
