The report confirms that next year’s iPhone 15 Pro model will use the next generation under-screen camera developed by Samsung Display and OTI Lumionics. The aforementioned bottom camera is expected to debut on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold5, and it will appear later on iPhone 15 Pro and possibly Pro Max as well.
It has been reported that Samsung is developing a new generation of organic cathodic patterning material (CPM) in cooperation with OTI Lumionics. The new material allows “microscopic transparent windows to be opened in the cathode and OLED pixel layers”, making the screen completely transparent, allowing Apple to equip the selfie camera and Face ID sensors under the screen. This, in turn, will result in a screen free of notches or holes.
No word if the standard model will come with the same camera under the screen, get the notch, or get the double hole design. The Non-professional models It’ll stick with the notch for another year as the Pro models transition to the new design.
The next iPhone lineup is expected to roll out on its regular schedule sometime in September. Rumors indicate that Apple might drop the ‘small’ iPhone This year in favor of a larger iPhone 14 Max.
