Apple iOS 15.4: the release candidate is available for developers

In the process of developing software (or an operating system), there are several stages:

  • the alpha : this is the very beginning, it lays the foundations of what the software will be.
  • the beta : a phase during which the developers will test the software in order to correct the most important bugs. The “beta” is more and more known to the general public, because many games come out in open beta in order to be tested by as many users as possible. This phase can be relatively long.
  • la release candidate : a sort of final beta, almost identical to the version that will be released. The goal of the RC is to make sure that no bug interferes with the release.

Following the event organized by Apple, the apple brand decided to deploy its update iOS 15.4 RC for developers (but also other beta testers). To do this, they just have to go to the Update by OTA menu in the settings.

Remember that iOS 15.4 will add (non-exhaustive list):

  • A non-binary voice for Siri (in the US)
  • mask support for Face ID
  • Universal Control for iPadOS 15.4
  • some changes for the rescue call and Apple Podcast
  • 30 new emojis

iOS 15.4 is slated for release next week, alongside tvOS 15.4, watchOS 8.5, and macOS 12.3.
