Apple gives in: Spotify can now display subscription prices in the app – appgefahren.de

Spotify (App Store-Link) and Apple will certainly not be best friends again, but Apple has now given in and Spotify is now allowed to display subscription prices in its own app. What sounds somewhat standard was forbidden by Apple’s guidelines for a long time. This time it is not the law for digital markets that applies, but the new antitrust guidelines that the EU has issued specifically for music streaming apps.

Just in March, the European Commission fined Apple 1.8 billion euros for anti-competitive behavior towards competing music streaming services. At the same time, a dispute broke out between Apple and Spotify because the music service would like to list the prices in the app. After much back and forth, Apple has now approved the update and Spotify is allowed to display the prices for subscriptions and digital goods.

But Apple continues to look for fault and prohibits Spotify from including a link to its own website. Even the text “spotify.com” is not allowed to be displayed without a link. If Spotify integrates a link to the website, the music streamer would have to pay Apple a commission of 27 percent on sales – something they obviously want to avoid at all costs.

To celebrate the day, Spotify is offering new customers the opportunity to use the music service 3 months free The offer is available via the Spotify website and is only valid for the individual subscription, which will be charged at 10.99 euros per month after expiration.
