The pre-sale of iMac with M4 chipannounced last week, is already rolling out in some countries — where the launch of the machine will take place this Friday (8/11) — and certain consumers have noticed a rather unnecessary change, so to speak, when it comes to purchasing options for machine peripherals (now equipped with a USB-C port).
This is because, with the new desktop model, you can no longer buy the Magic Trackpad as the Magic Mouse next to the iMac, such as noted by a Reddit user. In other words: you have to choose one or the other.
Apple no longer offers both Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad to be purchased together with the iMac…

Naturally, Apple sells each of these peripherals separately; however, when purchasing them this way, they are not sent in the corresponding iMac color — but only in the traditional black or white colors.
This is simply an aesthetic “complication”; Still, considering that it was possible to purchase both accessories in the same color option when buying an iMac with M1 or M3 chips, it is also not possible to understand the reason for the change, just like that…

**Interview with Tech Analyst: Exploring the New iMac with M4 Chip and Peripheral Changes**
**Editor**: Today, we’re joined by Sarah Thompson, a tech analyst and expert in Apple products, to discuss the recent release of the iMac with the new M4 chip and the accompanying changes in peripheral purchasing options. Welcome, Sarah!
**Sarah Thompson**: Thank you for having me!
**Editor**: Let’s dive right in. The pre-sale is already underway, and users are noticing some changes in their purchasing options for peripherals. What’s the gist of this situation?
**Sarah Thompson**: Well, Apple has made a notable shift with the new iMac model. Previously, users could buy the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad as a package directly with their desktop purchases. Now, with the introduction of the M4 chip model, those options are no longer available together. Instead, consumers will have to purchase these peripherals separately, which has frustrated many.
**Editor**: It sounds like a puzzling decision. What do you think might be behind this change?
**Sarah Thompson**: There are a few theories. One could be that Apple is shifting towards more streamlined accessory sales and emphasizing USB-C compatibility, which is a focal point in their latest hardware updates. However, it’s also possible that they want customers to have more customization options, allowing users to choose their peripherals based on personal preference.
**Editor**: That makes sense. Do you think this will impact the overall user experience?
**Sarah Thompson**: It could. Some users prefer the convenience of bundled options, especially for first-time buyers who might not have experience with the various products. Additionally, having to purchase accessories separately can lead to frustration and additional costs.
**Editor**: Are there any positive aspects to these changes that you foresee?
**Sarah Thompson**: Yes, absolutely. For users who have specific preferences for peripherals—perhaps they prefer third-party options or want to mix and match—this could lead to a more tailored experience. Plus, by making the shift to USB-C, Apple is aligning with a more universal standard that would benefit users in the long term.
**Editor**: Interesting insights! As the launch date approaches on November 8th, what should consumers keep in mind?
**Sarah Thompson**: They should consider their peripheral needs ahead of time. If they are keen on the Magic Trackpad or other accessories, it might be worth checking separately available options sooner rather than later. It’s also important to assess whether they are ready to adapt to USB-C if they have an existing collection of peripherals.
**Editor**: Great advice, Sarah. Thank you for your time and insights today!
**Sarah Thompson**: You’re welcome! I’m excited to see how consumers react to the new iMac and its peripherals when it officially launches.
