Apple declares iPhone 6 Plus and 4th Gen iPad Mini: Obsolete and Vintage – What this means for repairs

The gadget will no longer be accepted for repairs at all Apple branded centers in the world.

New names have appeared on the public list of obsolete and vintage Apple products. We are talking regarding the once popular iPhone 6 Plus and fourth generation iPad mini, writes MacRumors.

Obsolete status means that Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will no longer repair or replace your device. Apple says it considers a product obsolete if seven years have passed since the company last shipped new units for sale.

Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, with key features including larger screens than previous models and support for Apple Pay. The Apple brand discontinued the iPhone 6 Plus in September 2016, but the iPhone 6 remained available through resellers in some countries for several more years, so it is not considered obsolete yet.

On the software side, iOS 13 ended support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2019.

The fourth-generation iPad mini is now considered vintage, meaning it’s been more than five years since the company stopped bringing new devices for sale. Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will continue to repair vintage products for an additional two years, subject to parts availability.

Apple has also added the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to its vintage lineup, but these are only the (PRODUCT)RED models.

Previously, the iPhone 14 Plus with a large screen fell in price by 15% in Russia. Hi-Tech Mail.ru showed where to find the best price tag.
