If the screen change for future iPad Pros has already been mentioned since last summer, they might also be (very slightly) enlarged.
It’s the site MacRumors which reports confirmation from screen expert Ross Young. He thinks that Apple might, from 2024, offer iPad Pro 11.1 and 13 inches, slightly larger models than today.
A mini revolution
From last summer, Ross Young announced the upcoming arrival of iPad equipped with an OLED screen. The display process would first be reserved for the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as the expert indicated. These are still equipped with LCD screen and mini-LED, for the 12.9-inch model. The South Korean site The Elec reported for its part a little later that Apple might offer hybrid OLED technology, its experience with flexible screens for its smartphones not being reliable for iPads.
Later in the year, we learned from DigiTimes Asia that Apple had turned to a new partner manufacturer. According to the article, the company has contributed financially to the development of the Taiwan SMT factory, including providing equipment dedicated to the production of mini-LED backlights. One more proof of the hybrid model targeted by the apple giant.
2024, year of change
But Apple would not stop there to offer refreshed versions of its high-end iPads. The company might, by 2024, also offer slightly larger models. The iPad Pro would then have an OLED diagonal of 11.1 and 13 inches. Bigger, really? Given the announced sizes, it seems very possible that this change is only related to a refinement of the borders and not to the overall design of the device.
Another interesting information, Apple might also decide to equip its two iPad models with an OLED screen. The devices would then be equal regarding their display, unlike now. Finally, while the latest iPad Pro models have already been refreshed with M2 chipthese might be further improved by 2024. OLED screens might also appear on other Apple products, including 16-inch iPads which are in preparation according to some rumors.
