Apple could fire an employee over a TikTok video

She thought she was doing well. Still, Apple did not look favorably on a viral video posted on TikTok by Paris Campbell, a technician at an Apple Store in New York. She advised a client to the apple brand who had had his iPhone stolen not to disconnect the device from his Apple account in order to prevent thieves from being able to easily resell an unlocked smartphone. A piece of advice that may earn her the job of being fired by Apple, as related The VergeAugust 15th.

It all starts with a video in which a TikTok user wonders following receiving an email advising him to disconnect his Apple account from his stolen iPhone, in order to prevent his personal data from being misused. In response, Paris Campbell, a technician who does not directly identify herself as an Apple employee, but as “a certified hardware technician for a certain company that likes to talk regarding fruit” posted another video on TikTok explaining to the victim that a stolen iPhone is useless thanks to the phone’s activation lock, and that it should not be easy for thieves to work by disassociating the lost device from its Apple ID.
