Apple could finally adopt USB-C with the iPhone 15

If you own an iPhone and more than once have suffered from going out without a charger and not finding anyone with a Lightning connector, this news will give you a little hope.

Although there is still nothing official and all this remains in the realm of rumours, a well-known analyst maintains that Apple might finally replace its famous Lightning connector with a USB-C port on the iPhone within the next year.

Through Twitter, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicated that according to his “last survey” the iPhone that Apple will launch in 2023 “will ditch the Lightning port and switch to the USB-C port.”

The USB-C port is the one currently used by most of the main equipment of other companies such as Samsung and Xiaomi. However, Apple has refused to incorporate this connector into its phones, although in theory it might “improve the transfer and charging speed of the iPhone” according to Kuo himself.

But apparently, a context of supplies are scarce and in regions such as Europe (and even in Chile) regulations are being considered to establish the use of a universal charger, the apple company might give in over the next year and present the iPhone 15 line with USB-C ports.

However, although Kuo is a reliable source regarding Apple, the analyst himself indicates that “the final details of the specifications still depend on compatibility with iOS”, so this information must be taken with caution while waiting for what The apple company will do that until now has only winked at USB-C in its computers and the secondary connections of the iPhone and iPad.
