Apple announces its iOS 16, with new lock screen and improvements in messages

Apple presented this Monday iOS 16, its new operating system for iPhonewhich offers a totally renewed and customizable lock screen and new features in the messages application, which will allow, among other things, to edit and delete texts already sent.

The most visible change will be the new lock screen, that will offer a multitude of design options and the possibility of including “widgets” and updates in real time.

In the case of the messaging applicationApple decided to respond to repeated requests from its users and allow editing and deleting messages once sent, as well as mark a conversation as unread to remember to reply to it later.

iOS 16 also brings improvements to the voice dictation system, to the maps application -with more detail and 3D available in several countries, including Spain- and to Wallet, with a new system called Apple Pay Later, which allows you to finance purchases in four installments without interest.

Apple will also expand the possibilities for parents to control the use that their children make the iPhone and will offer a privacy option designed for people in abusive relationships, which may leave the other person without access to their location or shared passwords, among other things.

The “Live Text” function is also updated, which recognizes and digitizes text in photographs and can now also do so in videos, and the option to extract elements from images and use them in messages and other contexts is given.

The American company also announced several new features in the operating system of its Apple Watch, with advances especially in its use for sports and to control certain health problems.

The firm from Cupertino (California, USA) began its annual WWDC developer conference with this announcement, which following two years in virtual format due to the pandemic, is being held this time with a hybrid model.
