Apple addresses a vulnerability that threatened the security of its computers…and warns its users

Apple announced the launch of a new update for macOS systems, with which it addressed a software vulnerability that threatened the security of its computers.

According to the available information, the vulnerability, named Achilles, was coded “CVE-2022-42821” and was discovered and reported by a Microsoft information security specialist.

Experts revealed that the vulnerability enabled hackers to take advantage of it to spread malicious software on Apple computers, and it might bypass the Gatekeeper security protection feature on those devices.

Apple addressed this vulnerability in the circuits of its computer systems: macOS 13 Ventura, macOS 12.6.2 Monterey, and macOS 1.7.2 Big Sur.

Apple also advised users of its laptops to check the versions of their devices’ systems and security software, and update those versions to the latest version of macOS it launched.
