The second victim fell into the void, while the rescuers were still deployed on the spot for the first accident.

Two fatal accidents occurred in the Appenzell Alps on Monday. Shortly after noon, a 66-year-old German national was walking with her husband on a hiking trail from Äscher to Chobel. In the so-called Dürrschrennen sector, she fell down a steep slope and fell from an 80 meter high rock face. The emergency services, immediately alerted, could only note the death of the woman.
While rescuers were still on site, a 58-year-old man from the canton of Bern fell while walking the same section of the trail and also lost his life. This accident happened about an hour after the first fatal fall. The cantonal police of Appenzell Innerrhoden are investigating the causes of these two accidents.
According to the information currently available, the two victims had no connection and did not know each other.
