Top seed Carlos Alcaraz appeared dominant when he beat 23rd seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the Miami Open, Wednesday (27/3) WIB.

The Spaniard extended his winning streak to nine matches with a superb performance at Hard Rock Stadium.

Alcaraz is trying to become the first male tennis player to win the Sunshine Double, winning the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open, following Roger Federer in 2017.

Alcaraz pressured Musetti with his punches, landing vicious counterattacks from various positions before attacking the Italian in baseline rallies.

As a semifinalist at the Miami Open last year, Alcaraz kept Musetti from moving so he made many unforced errors.

“I know his playing style. I try not to let him feel comfortable on the court,” said Alcaraz, as broadcast by ATP, Wednesday (27/3).

“I tried to play my game, play aggressively with my shots, score runs, shoot shots, with my style. I think I did pretty well and I’m very happy with my performance,” he continued.

The world number two tennis player displayed a variety of striking techniques, from precise drop shots, perfect lobs and even tweeners.

According to ATP statistics, Alcaraz hit 23 winners and won 63% of his second serve returns to improve his head to head once morest Musetti to 3-1.

Entering the quarterfinals of the Miami Open for the third year in a row, Alcaraz played his best game of the season this month.

The two-time major champion lifted the Indian Wells trophy nine days ago, his first title since Wimbledon last year.

In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz will face 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov, who beat eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3). (Ant/Z-1)
