Thanks to the telephoto lens (or telephoto lens) of iPhone Pros, it is possible to capture zoomed images without losing quality and maintaining details. However, entry-level iPhones (the “non-Pro”) do not have this possibility, as they only have one camera or the second is an ultra-wide camera.
The 2.11 version of the app Halidehowever, has just arrived to remedy this problem with what they called Neural telephoto (Neural Telephoto). The resource offers 2x but zoom in a virtual lens, which uses machine learning to enhance every detail of the photos. The same system is already used — and acclaimed — in the Macro Mode available in the app.
The enlarged and enhanced photos will be in HEIC and JPEG formats, but the app will also capture a full RAW file, unedited and unzoomed, in case you want to adjust it later. By default, the app creates both a RAW file and an already enlarged and enhanced JPEG.
As you can predict, the resource does not compare to a real telephoto lens, but it manages to do better than most software that tries the same and ends up leaving photos distorted or with exaggerated sharpness.
The update that brings the news to Halide is now available for free on the App Store, also including minor enhancements and design improvements. The app subscription costs BRL 16 per month or BRL 63 per year, with the option of paying BRL 330 once.
