“Apostoli” with IOCC supports 170 Greek businesses 2024-03-09 03:12:10

Extending this successful action in collaboration with the Center for Volunteer Managers of Greece (KEMEL), two targeted training days of seminars on marketing and sales were organized, thus giving the opportunity to small businesses and cooperatives to upgrade their skills, to familiarize themselves with modern techniques and marketing tools and open up new sales avenues.

The Roof Cultural Center of the Archdiocese of Athens hosted the first seminar organized in Athens with the participation of forty-three businesses from Attica, Peloponnese, Central Greece, Thessaly, Crete and islands of the North and South Aegean. The second seminar was organized in Thessaloniki at the Krassa Cultural and Educational Center with the participation of fifty-two businesses from Epirus, Macedonia and Thrace. Upon completion of the seminars, the participants discovered new opportunities for promotion and development, as well as proper use of their sales network and created professional synergies.

The general director of the charity organization “Apostoli” Konstantinos Dimtsas (in the photo on the left with the former president of KEMEL K.M. Chlouverakis) welcomed the businessmen pointing out that “our goal with the program to support businesses and cooperatives, which we implement in “Apostoli “for the last ten consecutive years, is to give life and hope to small Greek family businesses, which in recent years have been affected by the economic crisis”. “The people of “Mission” and IOCC showed us from the beginning that they are by our side, that they can support this effort and immediately responded to our request. Thus, we received three machines as a donation to our cooperative”, said Mr. Giorgos Katsotourchis, President of the Kalymnos Social Cooperative Enterprise “Panagia Ypapanti” and President of the Kalymnos Fishermen, who traveled from Kalymnos to attend the seminar.

The “Apostoli” in collaboration and with funding from the IOCC and the Greek diaspora in America, started the implementation of the program to support cooperatives and very small businesses in 2014 when the economic crisis forced many businesses to close, leaving behind a large number of unemployed, especially in the border areas . Thus, it launched a new, pioneering and innovative program to support the primary and processing sector by offering free mechanical equipment, certifications and training to cooperatives and businesses in the agri-food sector and creative activities.

“The help we received was very important because it took us one step faster in our first difficult steps as a business”, emphasized Mr. Nikos Birourakis, owner of a small Cretan products business, who was at the seminar held in Athens.

In these ten years, the increased needs of businesses led to the expansion of the program throughout Greece and finally to the support of 170 cooperatives and businesses with the donation of 600 production equipment machines worth 1.5 million euros. In addition, during the last seven years, “Apostoli” in collaboration with KEMEL offered business guidance (mentoring) to 54 companies with the aim of strengthening financial management and reducing risk in charting their business course.
