Apna Chhat Apna Ghar Scheme: Can a house be built for Rs 15 lakh?

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz On August 21, 2024, announced the launch of ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program’ in the province in which loans of Rs.15 lakh will be provided to people for construction of houses.

Government Punjab Three models will be introduced under this program, one of which has been launched.

Model One and Model Two are yet to be launched but the paperwork for these models has been completed.

Model One:

Under Model One, houses or apartments will be built by developers on government land.

Developers own the house construction They will also be responsible for providing roads and other facilities.

In return for government land, the developers will bear the cost of construction of all houses and other facilities.

The price and installments of these houses will be fixed by the government while no subsidy will be given by the government.

Model Two:

Under this model, houses will be developed in private housing societies.

The Punjab government will streamline the approval process by implementing a one-window mechanism, ensuring that timelines for issuance of NOCs from each department are strictly adhered to.

The developer will provide affordable housing of size, design and price as determined by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency.

After receipt of down payment from the allottee and subsidy of Rs.1 million from the government, the possession of the constructed units will be handed over by the developer to the allottee.

The house amount will be paid to the developer in monthly installments over five years.

Model Three:

This model has been launched and under it, the citizens of Punjab will be provided with interest-free loans of Rs.15 lakh, which will be repaid over a period of seven years.

This amount will be received by the government in installments.

Loan Eligibility:

Citizen borrower should be head of family as per NADRA record and permanent citizen of Punjab as per identity card.

The applicant should be the sole owner of five marla or less land in urban areas and up to 10 marla land in rural areas.

The applicant should not have a criminal record such as conviction for anti-state, anti-social activities and heinous crimes etc.
