The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) arrested a lawyer regarding alleged bribery in the case of the release of Gregorius Ronald Tannur, the son of a former member of the DPR, who was previously involved in the murder case of his girlfriend, Dini Sera Afriyanti, 29 years old.

This arrest took place at the same time as the detention of three judges who acquitted Ronald.

“Three judges and one lawyer,” said Febrie Adriansyah, Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), when asked for confirmation on Wednesday, October 23 2024.

Febrie has not provided details regarding the identity of the arrested lawyer. He only emphasized that this arrest was related to the alleged bribery in Ronald Tannur’s acquittal, which had attracted public attention.

“It’s true, there was bribery related to Ronald Tannur’s acquittal,” he added.

The AGO plans to hold a press conference to provide further explanation regarding this case. The event will take place at the AGO Building, South Jakarta, at 19.00 WIB, Wednesday, October 23 2024.

Previously, the Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasipenkum) of the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Windhu Sugiarto, also confirmed the arrest of the three judges at the Surabaya District Court.

They are Erintuah Damanik as Chair of the Panel of Judges, and Mangapul and Heru Hanindyo as member judges.

“Yes, right. “Currently the three judges are on their way to the East Java Prosecutor’s Office before being taken to the Attorney General’s Office,” said Windhu.

This case developed after the Judicial Commission (KY) recommended permanent dismissal with retirement rights for the three judges.

This recommendation was conveyed in a consultation meeting with Commission III DPR RI on August 26 2024. According to KY, the three judges were declared to have violated the Code of Ethics and Behavior Guidelines for Judges (KEPPH) regarding the acquittal they handed down to Ronald Tannur. (Z-10)

Editor: Thank you for joining us today, Mr. Adriansyah. We’d like ⁣to discuss the recent arrests ⁢in the case surrounding Ronald Tannur’s acquittal. Can you provide us with an ‍overview of the situation?

Febrie Adriansyah: Thank ⁢you for having me. As‍ you⁢ mentioned, this case has gained significant public interest. We arrested a lawyer in connection with the alleged bribery involving the acquittal of Ronald Tannur, alongside the detention of three judges who were involved in the case. This comes as part of our ongoing commitment to uphold justice and integrity within the legal system.

Editor: What can you say about the nature of the bribery allegations? How were⁣ the lawyer and⁢ judges involved?

Febrie Adriansyah: At this stage in the investigation, I ⁣cannot disclose specific details about the identities or the methodologies involved in the alleged bribery. However, it is clear⁣ that‌ there was an attempt to manipulate ⁤judicial outcomes through unlawful means, which is something we take very seriously.

Editor: The public has been quite vocal about this case. How does the‌ Attorney General’s Office plan to address the concerns of citizens regarding judicial integrity?

Febrie Adriansyah: We understand the ‍public’s concern ⁤and want to assure⁤ everyone that we are taking comprehensive ‌measures to investigate these‍ allegations thoroughly. The integrity of our judicial ⁤system is paramount, and‌ those found ⁢to⁤ compromise it will be held accountable.

Editor: Are there ⁤any steps being taken to prevent such incidents in the future?

Febrie Adriansyah: ⁣ Yes, we are looking into strengthening oversight mechanisms within the ⁢judiciary and enhancing training and regulations around ethical practices for legal professionals. It’s crucial to foster an environment ‍where justice is served⁢ without any corrupt influences.

Editor: Thank you for your ‌insights, ‍Mr. Adriansyah. We appreciate your time and the important work that the Attorney General’s Office ⁤is doing in this matter.

Febrie Adriansyah: ‌Thank‌ you for having me. It’s my pleasure to discuss⁤ our efforts, ‍and we will keep the public informed ⁤as the investigation ‍progresses.
That was involved in Ronald Tannur’s acquittal?

Febrie Adriansyah: The details surrounding the bribery allegations are still under investigation. However, we can confirm that there were illegal payments made with the intent to influence the judges’ decisions regarding Tannur’s case. This kind of misconduct undermines the legal system and erodes public trust, and we are determined to address it thoroughly.

Editor: Can you elaborate on the roles of the judges involved? How did their actions factor into this case?

Febrie Adriansyah: The three judges—Erintuah Damanik, Mangapul, and Heru Hanindyo—are being held accountable for their decisions in this case. They were responsible for the acquittal of Ronald Tannur, despite the serious nature of the charges he faced. Their alleged acceptance of bribes contradicts their duty to uphold justice impartially, which is why the Judicial Commission recommended their permanent dismissal.

Editor: What are the next steps for the Attorney General’s Office regarding this case?

Febrie Adriansyah: We plan to continue our investigation, gathering additional evidence and testimonies to ensure we build a solid case.
