With swords, amulets and a cloth doll, ten Peruvian shamans performed, this Monday (11), a ritual to “neutralize” Brazilian striker Neymar, who will lead the Seleção’s attack once morest Peru on Tuesday, in Lima, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Wearing traditional colorful woolen costumes, the ten indigenous people from the mountains, jungle and coast of Peru prayed the ‘Tayta Inti’ (Father Sun) and cast spells in favor of the country’s team.

A colorful altar was erected next to Lima’s National Stadium with amulets, swords, flags and photographs of players from both teams.
The shamans used a brown cloth doll over a photo of Neymar, tying his left leg and placing a sword over his right.
“We did a special ritual so that your mind becomes clouded and cannot achieve what you are looking for, which are goals,” declared shaman Walter Alarcón, while performing a spell to nullify the enemy’s effectiveness.
The indigenous people also placed plants with thorns and sea shells in the photographs of Richarlison, Casemiro and coach Fernando Diniz.

The shamans held a football and a shirt with the number 9, of Peruvian striker and goalscorer Paolo Guerrero.
“Peru will have a favorable result, we see a draw. The game will be difficult,” said Alarcón.
“We did the previous ritual by taking ayahuasca”, added the shaman.
Ayahuasca is a traditional drink from the Amazon, extracted from a vine of the same name, also known as “rope of spirits”, which produces hallucinogenic effects.

Brazil leads the Qualifiers with 3 points (+4 goal difference) followed by Uruguay and Argentina. Peru has a point following drawing with Paraguay in the first round.
