By returning to success, the people of Antwerp temporarily regain sixth place in the ranking with 20 points, one less than the Limburgers, fifth.

The local supporters exploded with joy following only five minutes of play when Vincent Janssen, well served in front of the line by Arbnor Muja, opened the scoring for his team (5th, 1-0). The second goal fell a few minutes later following a very good collective action from Antwerp and a finish from Michel-Ange Balikwisha alone in front of the goal (11th, 2-0).

Genk was close to collapse following twenty minutes but fortunately for the Limburgers, Janssen’s second goal was canceled for an offside position (20th). Andi Zeqiri offered Genk a real opportunity following dribbling past Jean Butez but with an off-center position, his shot hit the upright (27th).

Just before returning to the locker room, the ‘Great Old’ took off. Ideally served by a very long ball from Toby Alderweireld, Balikwisha won his face-to-face with Maarten Vandevoordt to land his double (42nd, 3-0). The Limburg reaction fell straight away via a two-step goal from Zeqiri (45th, 3-1) following a poor recovery from Jelle Bataille.

In the second half, Balikwisha, who visibly had his legs on fire, warned Genk once once more with a curling shot which found Vandevoordt’s post (54th).

Despite a more balanced second act and high-class interventions from the two goalkeepers, Antwerp had control of the match. In the last seconds, Daniel Munoz reduced the gap in vain as the referee immediately whistled the end of the match (90th + 9, 3-2).
