Like every month, AnTuTu has just unveiled the ranking of the most powerful smartphones. In August 2023, several devices entered the rankings, but the most efficient is not the one expected.

After a top 10 of the most powerful Android smartphones of July 2023, the famous AnTuTu benchmark has just published a new list of devices, which this time is up to date with smartphones marketed in August 2023. Not all are equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip from Qualcomm, since one device also proudly sports MediaTek’s overpowered Dimensity 9200+.
In the lead in August, we find the new OnePlus Ace 2 Pro from the Chinese manufacturer. It is a high-end smartphone, but not part of the main series. This Ace series is all regarding performance, and it is thanks to the efforts of the manufacturer that the device has managed to reach 1,648,735 points this month, a record.
What are the most powerful Android smartphones of the month?
In second position, we find the IQOO 11S, which had already found itself second last month. It is followed by the RedMagic 8S Pro+, which we expected to be in first place. Indeed, it is the only smartphone in the ranking to be equipped with the most powerful Qualcomm chip, the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The latter has the advantage of going up to 3.32 GHz on its main core, when the others have to settle for a maximum frequency of “only” 3.2 GHz. It therefore seems that despite its advantage on paper, it is not always more powerful than its classic counterpart. As a reminder, this is basically the “For Galaxy” version which was found exclusively in Samsung’s Galaxy S23s, but was eventually made available to more manufacturers in the second half of the year. Xiaomi’s recent Redmi K60 Ultra also uses it, but it’s strangely not in the top 10. Samsung’s smartphones were never made for benchmarks due to insufficient internal cooling, so it is normal that we do not find them in this list.
Outside the podium, we find the iQOO 11 Pro in fourth position, followed by the Vivo X90 Pro+ and its MediaTek Dimensity 9200+. This is followed by the OnePlus 11, the Realme GT5 and the iQOO 11. The ninth position is occupied by the only foldable smartphone on the list, the Vivo X Fold 2, which unfortunately did not arrive in France. Finally, Oppo’s Find X6 Pro, which we were also eagerly awaiting at home, closes the march in tenth place.
What are the best performing mid-range smartphones?
AnTuTu also shared a top 10 most powerful mid-range smartphones. We find in the lead the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, the Chinese version of the Poco F5, at 1,148,376 points. It is powered by the famous Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which is almost as powerful as the previous generation Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

In second place is the Realme GT Neo 5 SE, equipped with the same chip. As the graph shows, the latter puts them way ahead of the others, all of which are equipped with mid-range MediaTek chips.
The podium is closed by the iQOO Neo7 SE, and then we find smartphones such as the Vivo S17 Pro, the OPPO Reno 10 Pro 5G, the Redmi Note 12T Pro, the Redmi K60E, the Xiaomi Civi 3, and two Ace smartphones from OnePlus. Most of them are not available in France, but if you want the most powerful smartphone in the mid-range segment, it’s to Xiaomi’s Poco F5 that you will have to turn.
