The “Antioquia Generates Confidence” event was held recently, bringing together more than 800 officials from various mayors’ offices, decentralized entities and hospitals in Antioquia. This training day, organized by the government, had as its main objective to improve control and oversight capabilities within the public administration, thus guaranteeing greater transparency and efficiency in resource management.
The activity, which was carried out both in person and virtually, had the participation of 160 people in the auditorium and nearly 600 connected from their homes or offices. During the event, attendees delved into updated internal control tools and methodologies, with a particular emphasis on risk detection and continuous process improvement.
The government of Antioquia has emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of active surveillance, which ensures the correct use of public resources and maintains citizens’ trust in institutions. In the words of Javier López, head of the Barbosa internal control office, “In internal control you have to learn everything because the universe of audits for us is very broad and our offices do not have the capacity of all professionals for all subjects.” .
The training not only seeks to improve the technical skills of officials, but also to create an environment conducive to collaboration between different public sector entities. This interaction is key to establishing a robust internal control system, capable of identifying and mitigating various risks in real time.
In addition, the event included practical workshops and conferences from experts, who shared success stories and effective strategies that have been implemented in other regions. Feedback from participants was positive.
Another relevant aspect of the meeting was the discussion on the implementation of technology in audit processes. The experts highlighted how digital tools can facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of public management, allowing greater transparency and agility in decision-making.
The government also highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader plan to improve public management in Antioquia. It is expected that, through these trainings, better results will be achieved in resource management, as well as a greater commitment of officials to ethics and transparency.
