Antioquia es Mágica wins international award

The Antioquia es Mágica Program promoted by the Government of Antioquia was awarded at the WTM (World Travel Market) Latin Market Awards for being a sustainable and responsible tourism initiative.

The joy was evident and also immense, among the entire team of people who work in the Antioquia es Mágica program promoted by the Government of Antioquia and led by Claudia Márquez, wife of Aníbal Gaviria.

The work of several years obtained first place in the category of Best Models of Local Shopping, Crafts and Gastronomy, at the WTM (World Travel Market) Latin Market Awards that are delivered these days, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Antioquia is Magic was chosen among 66 initiatives from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Ecuador

Through intense days and months, this group of people has worked intensely to ensure that peasants, artisans, hotel owners, or coffee producers can do a better job and share their products with tourists and people from other destinations.

Claudia Márquez, the woman who has promoted this program and who totally believes in the power of tourism, spoke regarding this recognition: “we are very happy because this is a recognition of the work of these years and, above all, a recognition of the work, the knowledge and the knowledge of our artisans who with their hands can transform lives, not only of their families, but of us as citizens. Through his magical experience we can transform our lives.”

His voice is joined by Juan David Blanco, Secretary of Tourism of Antioquia: “This is a great recognition that WTM Latin America gives us because, precisely, Antioquia is Magic has allowed us to continue working on strengthening the tourism sector in the department. The work in handicrafts, gastronomic development and local purchases have been a fundamental fabric so that we can continue materializing all the magic of tourism in Antioquia in the construction of this long-term work”.

This is not the first recognition that this program has obtained, for its work, in favor of tourism in the department. It has already received another recognition from the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Anato, 2023.
