In the latest issue of his newsletter “Power On,” the ever-knowledgeable Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple is preparing an event that is just a few weeks away, which in other words should be the launch event for the first Macs with the M4 chip.
During the same event, Gurman says we should also see new basic iPads (including an iPad mini: the last of this series dates back to 2021). Here is the list with the code names of the machines that should be presented:
- J604 – MacBook Pro 14″ base da 14″ con chip M4
- J614 and J616 – Top-of-the-line 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with two “pro”-level M4 chips
- J623 – iMac con chip M4

“I have been told that these Macs have already shipped from the factories (with the exception of some high-end MacBook Pros and the Mac Mini with M4 Pro) and are ready for immediate release,” Gurman writes, explaining that Apple is naturally trying to keep the word quiet until the event. The Bloomberg editor reiterates what he previously said: machines such as the MacBook Air con chip M4 (J713 and J715) are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2025, and that the new Mac Studio (J575) is expected to arrive around the middle of next year. As for a new Mac Pro (J704) should be discussed by the end of 2025.
Previous leaks suggest that all new Macs with M4 will start with a minimum configuration of 16GB of unified memory. The M4 SoC is built on the second-generation 3nm process, improves power efficiency, integrates an improved display “engine,” and CPU, CPU, and Neural Engine improvements, which are also key to Apple Intelligence.
