‘Anti-State Propaganda’, Rauf Hasan and Waqas Janjua Arrested: Interior Ministry

Pakistan’s Interior Ministry said on Monday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf spokesperson Rauf Hasan has been arrested on charges of being involved in ‘anti-state propaganda’.

Spokesman Secretary Interior has said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior on Monday that ‘Islamabad Police has also arrested the coordinator of PTI Ahmed Waqas Janjua.’

The statement further said that ‘In the light of preliminary investigation and digital content, PTI’s digital media wing was raided by Islamabad Police and FIA team. Meanwhile, Rauf Hasan was arrested.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Party Spokesman Rauf Hassan were detained and taken to police lines by the Islamabad Police. However, Barrister Gohar has reached home after some time. Rauf Hasan is there.

PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen said that Barrister Gohar was also with Rauf Hasan in the morning, but now Barrister Gohar is with us, but there is no knowledge of Rauf Hasan and no FIR has been shared with us.

Several videos are circulating on social media in which a heavy contingent of police personnel can be seen outside the PTI office.

Islamabad Police has not yet issued any statement regarding these arrests, but in the videos circulating on social media, it can be seen that the policemen are taking Barrister Gohar away with them.

On the other hand, an Islamabad police official told AFP on condition of anonymity that they have not arrested Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, but the official has confirmed the arrest of Rauf Hassan, one of the founding leaders of the party. and is the Head of Information Department.

The official said that ‘Rauf Hasan has been arrested but the police have not arrested Gohar Ali Khan.’

Last week Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar said that the government has decided to ban PTI because according to him, many evidences of anti-nationalism have been found against PTI.

However, after this announcement, some leaders of the ruling party itself opposed this ban and the Pakistan People’s Party included in the coalition government announced that it should not be consulted.
