Anti-Semitic leaflets appeared over the weekend in two Florida cities with large Jewish communities, authorities said.
The flyers were distributed to hundreds of homes in Miami Beach and Surfside.
Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber tweeted that the flyers appeared in sandwich bags with pebbles inside.
In neighboring Surfside, similar fliers appeared at several homes, authorities said in an emailed “community alert.”
In a photo posted online by Gelber, half of the pamphlet is visible, which names a number of Washington officials in charge of anti-pandemic measures, saying they are Jewish.
As a precaution, both Gelber and Surfside authorities announced the strengthening of security measures around religious institutions. Local and federal law enforcement agencies are investigating the distribution of the flyers.
“There is no place in our community for this and we will do everything in our power to make that very clear,” Gelber tweeted.
