Olivia Grégoire, Minister Delegate for SMEs, provided details on Monday, January 30 on this aid plan to benefit from discounts on essential products. It might be launched as early as March.
The idea is in the government’s pipeline to help the French face the general increase in prices. Or that of an anti-inflation basket displaying a list of everyday products at low prices. This Monday, January 30, Olivia Grégoire, Minister Delegate in charge of SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), provided details on the antenna ofEurope 1.
Fresh, organic products
She first detailed her objective: “To ensure that the French can have attractive prices on a daily basket” she said. “I want there to also be quality products, fresh, organic products and that it’s not just a low-priced basket”. We are talking regarding meat, dairy products or articles related to hygiene.
For the time being, discussions are continuing with the actors of the large distribution. But the minister assured that “regarding fifty products” will be offered with attractive prices, where the government was talking regarding twenty in mid-January. As for the implementation of the device, it must be carried out at the beginning of March and for three months.
“Not on the back of our farmers or producers”
The challenge will now be to convince large retailers who must agree. Olivia Grégoire assured that the right to competition will be preserved. “It’s not up to the government to set the benchmarks,” she said. “And if the prices are low, it is not on the back of our farmers or our producers that these margins must be found”.
