Anthony Santander hits a home run against Toronto to reach 31 for the season

The Creole outfielder, Anthony Santander, continues at an overwhelming pace to close the month of July on a high note. The Creole hit his 31st homer of the season in the game that the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2.

The outfielder homered in the bottom of the fifth inning off starter Chris Bassitt. The connection went to right-center field and traveled 355 feet with an exit velocity of 97.4 mph.

Baltimore took a 4-0 lead in the third inning and improved to 6-6 since the All-Star break to remain atop the AL East.

Burnes allowed two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Although the Orioles added starters Zach Eflin and Trevor Rogers before the trade deadline, Burnes (11-4, 2.47 ERA) remains the team’s undisputed ace.

The 2021 Cy Young Award winner and four-time All-Star has pitched at least six innings in 17 straight starts while allowing three runs or fewer in 21 of 22 outings and is on pace for his fourth consecutive 200-strikeout season.

Starter Chris Bassitt (8-10) allowed five runs and nine hits in four innings, including Urias’ solo homer and a two-run single to Ryan O’Hearn in a three-run third.

In the game, Santander was in charge of bringing runs to the plate, because he went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and one run scored.

In the series against the bluebirds, the native of Margarita has left a high average of .454 corresponding to five hits in 11 visits to the plate. In that period he has two home runs, four RBIs, three runs scored and two walks received.
