Anthony Santander was once again the star of last night’s game after hitting his 29th home run of the year against the San Diego Padres.

Santander launched a 442-foot homer in the eighth inning. He has two homers in his last two games and seven so far this month, cementing himself as the most dangerous hitter in the Camden Yards team.

FRANCISCO ALVAREZ MADE HER DISAPPEAR

For his part, Venezuelan catcher for the New York Mets, Francisco Álvarez, hit his fifth homer of the season last night in his team’s 8-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Alvarez hit a solo shot to left field in the third inning to extend his team’s lead. It was his first homer since June 26 against the New York Yankees. He finished the day 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

PHILLIES ACQUIRED AUSTIN HAYS

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Austin Hayes from the Baltimore Orioles yesterday in exchange for Dominican right-hander Seranthony Dominguez and fellow Dominican outfielder Cristian Pache, a deal between the East division leaders of both leagues.

The starting outfielder was selected to the 2023 American League All-Star Game. Hays had a terrible start to the season in which he totaled only three homers and 14 RBIs in 63 games this season with the Orioles.

Dominguez, 29, played in 230 games with the Phillies over six seasons. He is 3-2 with one save and a 4.25 ERA in 38 games this year. Pache hit .202 in 50 games with the Phillies this season.
