We were talking regarding it here a few days ago, fist clenched. Anthony Davis had been absent for several days, and we wondered what the next medical examinations were going to give. Well according to various sources in Los Angeles, the interior of the Lakers may not play once more for a long time …
That’s not how you wish the Lakers a Merry Christmas.
A week ago, Anthony Davis injured his foot once morest the Nuggets and left his family quickly, leaving the city of angels in deep doubt. What we were waiting for was a medical update, in order to know the severity of the injury. Were we going to talk regarding a few days of absence? A few games? A few months?
Unfortunately, the last update fell, and it was not good.
We are talking regarding an absence of indefinite duration, with fingers crossed to avoid an operation.
This is Shams Charania from The Athletic who relayed the Lakers info first, before a detailed confirmation from Adrian Wojnarowski side ESPN.
ESPN Sources: The pain has subsided in past several days in Anthony Davis’ foot and he’s expected to rest it for another 7-to-10 days and have it re-evaluated and see if he can return to play. For now, there’s hope that a procedure can be avoided. https://t.co/4B2RXiAZTV

Let’s take the optimistic update, that is to say 7 to 10 days of evaluations before making a decision.
But we’re not going to lie to each other, it already smells like shit. Already because the Lakers season has been a nightmare so far, then because we are talking regarding a foot injury in an interior, and finally because we are talking regarding… Anthony Davis. A player whose career injury list sends shivers down the spineand sadly reminds us of a new generation Bill Walton.
Author of an incredible season so far (27 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks on average), AD carried the Lakers on his broad shoulders, on both sides of the field.
Do you take it off? It’s all hope of credibility and respect that disappears in a snap of the fingers, as we have already seen last year. The Lakers may well spin the keys of the racket to LeBron, Thomas Bryant, Huey, Dewey and Loulou, this team will go nowhere without the presence of its co-best player.
And the question we can ask ourselves is then the following: what will Rob Pelinka do at the trade deadline, if the ship sinks and the Lakers learn that they cannot count on Anthony Davis at all for the rest of the season?
Fingers are crossed more than ever for Anthony Davis. Foot surgery is the ultimate nightmare that might happen for basketball fans like the Lakers. In these holiday seasons, we already know what gift to order…
