Anthem: Bioware’s Live-Service Game – Sales, Controversy, and Cancellation

文章: Jonas Maki – Gamereactor.cnAfter creating some of the best and most memorable single-player role-playing games of all time, Bioware suddenly decided to get into live-service games and released Anthem in 2019. It’s their biggest and most expensive game yet.
Unfortunately, Bioware lacks the expertise to make a game like this, and while there’s some pretty good and creative gameplay, it’s lacking in almost every other department with a weird loot system, tedious leveling, an empty world, and no real gameplay. instigation to encourage people to keep playing. This resulted in poor sales, and Bioware ultimately canceled the game following initially trying to save it. But how much did it sell for? Thanks to a new LinkedIn post from a former Bioware employee spotted by Timur222 on X, we now have an answer. As it turns out, the game actually got off to a pretty good start, selling 2 million units in its first week and going on to sell 5 million copies during its lifetime. We’re assuming a lot of them are being sold at heavily discounted prices, so numbers alone don’t give the full picture – but ultimately, Anthem is actually having pretty good sales.
Do you think Bioware and EA made the wrong decision by canceling it?https://twitter.com/bogorad222/status/1736920056871702556
