Andrea Di Giuseppe, deputy of the Brothers of Italy elected abroad in the North American constituency, commented on the television report on patronage – during which he himself was interviewed – which aired last night on Rai Tre as part of the program “Lo State of things”, hosted by Massimo Giletti: “What is happening in New York in the Inca patronage of the CGIL is a shame. Between inflated practices, money requested from our compatriots abroad to carry out services that were actually free and financing received from Italy for work that was never carried out, the charities would have collected, for years and without reason, millions of euros which should be returned”.
“A year ago – continues the Honorable Di Giuseppe – I was the first to present to the Chamber a question on the foreign institutes of trade unions, on the need for greater controls on their work and the many irregularities revealed following investigations. In fact, I had discovered that a Canadian patronage had hosted the Democratic Party primaries. This is all unacceptable. I want to see if next week the CGIL secretary, Maurizio Landini, will have the courage to respond to Massimo Giletti’s invitation to appear on ‘The State of Things’ to respond to what was shown in the report broadcast yesterday.”
“I discovered the first signs that something irregular was happening abroad – concludes the FdI deputy – during my electoral campaign, when my staff reported to me a series of over-centenarians on the voter lists: after my personal check it turned out that they were deceased. Voting issue aside, if it were discovered that the pensions of thousands of people who have died for years are received by unknown persons, perhaps with the help of charitable organizations, we would be talking about enormous damage to the state budget. At the time I filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, I expect the first results of the investigations to arrive soon.”
