The Pesti’home study, why?
The objective of the Pesti’home study is to better understand the uses, by the population residing in Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion and mainland France, of products intended to eliminate pests in the home as well as in the outside the home (courtyard, terrace, facade, garden, vegetable patch, etc.). Products used to treat pets once morest ticks, fleas, etc. are also affected. All these products come under regulations relating to plant protection products, biocides and veterinary medicinal products.
This study is financed by the ministries in charge of ecology, health and agriculture within the framework of the Ecophyto plan. It will contribute to defining public health priorities aimed at reducing the exposure of populations to pesticides. This study responds to one of the recommendations of the Inserm collective expertise on pesticides and their effects on health published in June 2013.
Who participates in Pesti’home and how?
The Pesti’home study will take place in 10 municipalities in each department. In these municipalities, households are drawn by lot to participate. The study will begin on February 6 and will run for one to two months. A total of 600 households will participate.
Thus, from 30 January, if your household has been drawn, you will receive a letter from ANSES inviting you to take part in this scientific study. You will then be contacted by an investigator from LH2 DOM, appointed by ANSES, who will explain the study to you in more detail.
If you agree to participate, the surveyor will identify with your help, the products used in your home, as well as the way in which you use them. All data collected will be strictly confidential. Your participation is voluntary. Your answers will be useful to us, the participation of the greatest number is indeed very valuable, it will guarantee the scientific quality of the study.
ANSES is counting on your cooperation and thanks you for it.
