According to a press release from ANPC, 605 control actions were carried out, as a result of which, for the irregularities discovered, 459 contraventional fines were issued, amounting to over 3.6 million lei, and 433 warnings.
Also, the definitive stop from the use of non-compliant products, worth over 90,000 lei, and the temporary stop of the provision of services in 76 units were submitted.
Among the irregularities found are the existence of mold in the accommodation spaces, the use of damaged furniture, old, worn, stained pillows without protective covers, working in unsanitary and damaged spaces, failure to display the visit schedule, the admission procedure, the rates, of the information leaflets regarding the activities carried out and the services offered or the use of expired medicines.
The inspectors also noted the overcrowding of accommodation spaces or accommodation in inappropriate spaces, the use of food products without identification and characterization elements, unsealed products kept at ambient temperature, the use of food products with the minimum durability date exceeded, the use of refrigerated display cases for storing products and unsanitary dishes, with excess dust, rust and mildew, excess ice, the lack of some of the operating permits, the use of non-compliant, unhygienic, stained bed linens and mattresses, the lack of faucets in the bathroom or other elements of bathroom, the existence of deformed doors, the existence of poor hygiene in the bathrooms and accommodation spaces.
“We will continue the controls in this field of activity, precisely to periodically check how the law is respected, in care centers throughout the country. Consumer rights, all the more so as they are vulnerable, are the main obligation of economic operators who choose to carry out this type of activity”, said Sebastian Hotca, ANPC vice president.
