And one more ! An additional major market has just given its agreement to Microsoft to pursue the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard just days following the validation of Europe.
One step following another
Microsoft continues its work with the various regulators around the world to make itself heard and obtain their green light for the takeover of the Activision-Blizzard-King group. Nothing is decided yet, while the CMA, the British regulator, decided to oppose the transaction at the end of last month.
But the Redmond firm is still in the race. A few days ago, the European Commission has decided to lean in favor of the American giant. Excellent news for Microsoft, which will nevertheless have to meet several conditions, including a significant investment in the Cloud.
The firm has thus undertaken to grant free licenses to cloud service providers so that consumers can stream the Activision Blizzard games they have purchased, regardless of the operating system used and the service subscribed to.
Shortly following this more than important validation, it was the turn of another major market to agree, as reported by Microsoft.
China gives green light
After Europe, it is China’s turn to agree to the takeover of Activision-Blizzard. Tom Warren, journalist for The Verge, notably relayed Microsoft’s press release following the validation granted by the SAMR (State Administration for Market Regulation)

China’s unconditional approval to proceed with our takeover of Activision Blizzard follows clearances from various jurisdictions such as the European Union and Japan, bringing the total to 37 countries, representing over two billion people. This acquisition, along with our recent commitments to the European Commission, will allow consumers around the world to play more games on more devices.
Despite everything, there are still a few steps before Microsoft manages to complete this acquisition. China’s approval might work in favor of the giant when it attempts to overturn the CMA’s decision on appeal soon, as will that of the FTC, the US regulator.
