Another teachers’ strike begins on Wednesday: thousands of them will rally in front of the Seimas

There are only a dozen hours left until the start of the strike, and the first day of the strike will be crowned by a mass rally of striking teachers at the Seimas.

On the eve of the strike, LŠDPS leader A. Navickas 15min said that the plans have not changed and the rally in front of the parliament will definitely take place.

Striking teachers from all over Lithuania will gather here at 4 p.m.

“As many will gather, as many will gather. We asked up to 5 thousand people for permission. The weather is cold, but we hope that the teachers will not be afraid of the cold and will gather at least 3-5 thousand”, said the organizer of the strike and rally.

According to him, over 3,000 people will go on strike throughout the country. teachers who are expected to come to the rally in Vilnius.

The chairman of the trade union hopes that politicians, including those in power, will come to the rally to talk to the teachers.

An exceptional Utena

During this strike, Utena is exceptional, where all the schools are on strike, and according to A.Navicka, the students will escort the teachers going to the rally on Wednesday.

“Students are very supportive of them, they will even accompany them to the rally. There are probably no more such cities where all educational institutions are on strike,” said A. Navickas.

According to him, strikes are active in Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Alytus, and Kaišiadorys.

The last time teachers went on strike for two weeks from the end of September to the middle of October.

Then, after the teachers reached Vilnius on foot, it was decided to take a break from the strike until the Seimas starts considering the budget.

About the duration of the strike starting on Wednesday, A.Navickas is still speaking smoothly and claims that it will depend on the decisions of the Seimas.
