Another school closed after threats

Threats made on social networks late Thursday evening to management and students forced the closure of Louis-Philippe-Paré high school in Châteauguay, Montérégie, on Friday.

An investigation was launched by the Châteauguay police in collaboration with the cybercrime section of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

These statements on social networks, which triggered the police deployment, would even go as far as threats of shooting.

“When we receive threatening situations […] the police are launching an investigation and according to the information we obtain throughout the investigation, we make the decision to secure our students in the best way, ”explains Kathlyn Morel, director general of the Grandes-Seigneuries school service center. , in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

Chateauguay police warn that such comments made on social networks can have serious consequences.

“Anyone who makes this kind of remark, regardless of whether they think it’s anonymous or not, we always end up by different means to conclude the investigation with an arrest”, declares Erika Grondin, spokesperson for the police. of Chateauguay.

Those who make threats once morest a school face charges including death threats or threats to cause bodily harm.

This is the second school in less than a week to be targeted by threats.

The investigation is ongoing and the high school remains closed for the day.
