The documentary program “Investigation was conducted …” began to appear on NTV in 2006. Since then, several times they have been talking regarding the fact that the show has become obsolete and it is time for Kanevsky to retire. However, the actor has managed to stay on the air so far.
The love of Kanevsky’s fans for his program “The investigation was conducted …” is boundless. After all, many Russians remember Leonid Semenovich from the role of Major Tomin in the Soviet TV series Experts Are Investigating, which became the prototype of the current NTV documentary project. Kanevsky is recognized even by young people who like to watch together with adults regarding how criminals were caught in the USSR.
However, it is not clear how much longer the long-lived program will be able to stay on the air, especially in the form in which we see it now and for the past 17 years. Four years ago, Kanevsky was already asked important questions regarding “The investigation was conducted …”. For example, journalists were interested in why Leonid Semenovich does not touch upon modern crimes in his offspring. Answering, Kanevsky admitted that someday someone else would come in his place and tell regarding his time. He also shares with the audience stories regarding his own era. In other words, “The investigation was conducted …” can stay with us for a long time, it will just change its format and presenter.
“Initially, we decided that we were taking only stories from the Soviet period, from the twenties to 1990. <…> There was just such an agreement from the beginning. I think another Kanevsky will appear, who, with his intonation, his attitude, will tell regarding this time. But I don’t want to touch it yet. It is very responsible to talk regarding the people who now exist,” said Leonid Semenovich.
In the same interview, Kanevsky responded to the criticism of the “Investigation was conducted …” regarding the criminal content of the program. The fact is that the actor himself once disapprovingly spoke out regarding the fact that there is too much negativity on television. But Leonid Semenovich thinks regarding his program in a completely different way.
“No. For me, it’s not a crime. This project was originally conceived as “The investigation was conducted …” not with Tomin, Semin. Namely, with Kanevsky. <…> Children aged 13-15 come up to me and say the words for which I exist there: “How interesting! How amazing!” And they can watch crime on any channel. They are interested in watching and listening regarding that time: how they lived, how they talked, how they joked. They hear my intonation and believe me. Because I know this time well, ”concluded Kanevsky.
