To list of designers important, which helped create some of the most iconic products in the world and left/will leave Apple continues to increase. The ball of the moment is Bart Andreone of the oldest to still be at the company and with the most registered patents — he joined Apple in 1992, together with Jony Ive, even before Steve Jobs returned to the company (in 1997).

Unlike some others, he’s not going to any design firms (like Ive’s LoveFrom) or the competition: according to BloombergAndre told some co-workers that he will retire soon.

Andre had helped manage Maçã’s design team following the departure of Evans Hankey — who, in turn, served as Apple’s vice president of industrial design following Ive’s departure in 2019.

After Hankey’s departure, Apple essentially eliminated the position of head of design and restructured this entire product design team under the command of COO Jeff Williams — which, according to Bloomberggenerated dissatisfaction among some people on the team because they were led by an executive with no knowledge of the area.

In addition to Andre, other designers who have recently left Cupertino are Wan Is, Chris Wilson, Patch Kessler, Jeff Tiller, Tang Tan, Peter Russell-Clarke, among others.
