Another drive hunt in the Strem hunting gate today – video of a seriously injured wild boar | VGT

The authority does not stop the illegal hunts in the gate; VGT presents videos and photos of wounded, seriously suffering animals – complaint of animal cruelty.

Strem/Burgenland (OTS) By now everyone should know: as of February 1, 2023, gate hunting in Burgenland was banned, the fences would have to be removed. But they are not. And the operators of the hunting gate near Strem continue to unabashedly carry out battue hunts. Yesterday, the VGT brought this fact to the public and called the police. But the hunt continued in the afternoon. And that’s not all: this Sunday, another driven hunt is taking place in this gate. The VGT now presents a horrific video of panicked wild boars fleeing in fear of death and a badly wounded animal that is completely ignored by the hunters in the gate.

David Richter, deputy chairman of the VGT, filmed on site: “Suddenly a badly injured wild boar comes towards me and lies down in the ditch, gets up again, drags itself on. I immediately called the police and said they had to come because there is severe animal cruelty going on here that is illegal.“But the police didn’t intervene.

VGT Chairman DDr. Martin Balluch: “In 2015 we already documented and published the dreadful battues in this and other hunting gates in Burgenland. The animal suffering is so unbearable that the population demanded a ban and was even willing to enforce this ban by referendum. The gate operators have known since 2017 that the hunting gates had to close on February 1, 2023. And yet such hunts continue to take place. The police say they have notified the BH but are not taking any action to end the animal suffering. In Austria, despite all assurances, the animals are regularly left out in the rain. It is enough! The gate hunt must end now, once and for all!”
