Another decision of Pakistan Cricket Board, former Test spinner director appointed high performance

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test spinner Nadeem Khan as Director High Performance, he will also hold the responsibilities of Director High Performance Department of Academies and Domestic.

Nadeem Khan has represented Pakistan in two Tests and two ODIs. 50-year-old Nadeem Khan also has vast experience of playing 153 first-class matches. He was among 16 shortlisted candidates who were interviewed by Cricket Committee Chairman Iqbal Qasim, Member Wasim Akram, former Director of Performance England and Wales Cricket Board David Parsons and Chief Executive PCB Wasim Khan. CB has engaged as a consultant.

David Parsons is available to PCB for 25 days a year. Nadeem Khan has resigned from the post of Co-ordinator of the National Selection Committee after the appointment of Director High Performance. PCB will look for a replacement for this post. Sources say that former Test fast bowler Muhammad Akram is a strong candidate for this post. Chief executive Wasim Khan is interested in hiring Muhammad Akram. Muhammad Akram is currently associated with PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi.

The appointment of Director High Performance is part of the restructuring process whereby the responsibilities of the Domestic Cricket Department and Director Academies will now also be entrusted to the Director High Performance. The tenure of Director Academies Mudassir Nazr and Director Domestic Haroon Rasheed expires on May 31. Nadeem Khan is also associated with UBL and has experience in running academies. The PCB has listed Nadeem Khan’s international career highlights as taking the wicket of Brian Lara in 1993 and running out Sachin Tendulkar in the famous Calcutta Test in 1999. Nadeem Khan has expressed his happiness to be a part of PCB during the restructuring process. Chief Executive PCB Wasim Khan has welcomed Nadeem Khan to the PCB family.
