According to media reports, under the agreement, Morocco will establish formal and full diplomatic relations with Israel and will open its airspace for all Israeli flights.
On the other hand, according to the announcement from the White House, in exchange for recognizing Israel, President Trump has accepted Morocco’s claim on Western Sahara. Clashes have been going on for decades between Morocco and the Algerian-backed Polisario Front in this region. The Polisario wants to make the region an independent state, but now the United States has recognized Morocco’s authority over the region.
After August of this year, Morocco is the fourth country to establish full diplomatic relations with Israel. Earlier, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan have signed diplomatic relations with Israel.
