Collectors have become commonplace, and are a delight for collectors. If some are well supplied, and thus justify their price which can sometimes fly away, others on the other hand are simply shameful. If that of Final Fantasy XVI was considered too expensive by many (349.99€) – which did not prevent it from being quickly out of stock to find itself at even higher prices on resale sites – Square Enix has once once more slipped up with another game.
Less expected than its last Final Fantasy, few people paid attention to the collector’s edition of this Square game, and yet, there is reason to be indignant when you compare the price of the edition with its content.
200 euros for not much
The game in question is Star Ocean: The Second Story R, the remake of Star Ocean 2, scheduled for November 2 on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. This J-RPG originally developed by tri-Ace and published by Enix, and originally released on Playstation in 1998, has become a cult favorite for many. Remastered in a unique 2.5D style where pixelated 2D characters evolve in 3D environments, this remake takes everything that made the success of the original game with some new additions. Here, it is not the quality of the game that we are questioning, but its collector’s edition at a price that is far too high for the content it offers..

When the content was revealed, many players were disappointed, and the negative comments were not long in coming. Many fail to understand this price, and the price of collectors in general. Admittedly, inflation has been there, but for many players, this increase is not justifiedmore so when they compare the prices of collectors from a few years ago.
