Due to excessively high costs, more and more churches have been forced to close in recent years, as is the case with the Saint-Charles-Garnier church in Quebec.

Since few Christians frequented the place, the Saint-Charles-Garnier church was forced to close its doors in order to redirect its activities to bring in money.
“The church is never full, then I come every Sunday. They don’t have the money to maintain these churches,” remarked a parishioner.
Formerly, the parish of Bienheureuse-Dina-Bélanger in Quebec had three churches: Saint-Michel de Sillery, Saint-Charles-Garnier and Très-Saint-Sacrement. It was closed due to its poor condition. Since 2020, more than $1.6 million has been invested to preserve the site.
It is on May 27 that the status of the Saint-Charles-Garnier church will be known.
