Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin is sending people into space on a short trip for the eighth time. Six astronauts took part in a journey to the edge of space aboard the highly automated New Shepard rocket system. It only lasted a little over ten minutes in total.

During the flight, the space capsule separated from the rocket, temporarily reached an altitude of more than 100 kilometers from the earth, and then landed again using a parachute. There is temporary weightlessness in the space capsule. There were four men and two women on board, including student Karsen Kitchen, who, according to Blue Origin, is the youngest woman ever to cross the Karmen Line, an altitude of 100 kilometers. New Shepard’s last trip was in May. Blue Origin keeps the price of its spaceflights secret, but similar discounts equate to hundreds of thousands of euros.

On the first flight in July 2021, Amazon founder Bezos himself was on board. The second took place in October 2021 and was attended by the then 90-year-old Canadian actor William Shatner, best known for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek.
