Another blow for Kim Clavel

Boxer Kim Clavel is struggling with COVID-19, so she had to give up her world championship fight once morest Yesenia Gomez scheduled for Thursday at the Cabaret du Casino de Montreal, her promoter Yvon Michel announced Monday morning.

The latter said that his clan learned of the news late Sunday evening. Consequently, the gala which was to be held this week will not take place; Michel mentioned May 5 as a possible resumption date for the other matchups on the card.

“Kim Clavel’s symptoms are quite virulent. We stay in contact with her and send her all the positive vibes we have so that she recovers quickly,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Also, coach Stéphan Larouche corroborated the statements of the big boss of GYM. However, his remarks are likely to leave some perplexed. According to him, the pugilist – who had offered her help to the Quebec health system during the first wave of the pandemic – wanted to climb into the arena despite her troubles.

“Kim Clavel begged us not to say anything. She wanted to box despite her positive test. A real warrior. With the sleepless night she has just spent – fever, terrible sore throat, recurring headaches – it was out of the question to let her box in this physical state”, he wrote on his Twitter account.

Clavel (15-0-0, 3 K.-O.) must thus digest a third postponement of his duel for the World Boxing Council light flyweight title held by Gomez (19-5-3, 6 K.- O). Initially, the two women were to cross swords in December, but an injury to the Quebecer had postponed the project in March. Then it was the Mexican’s turn to treat her ailments at the inappropriate moment.
