Everyone who loves Katare Toyama.
Happy new year.
It may not be bright news early in the new year, but I decided to retire following last season.
I apologize for not being able to tell you directly in front of everyone.
I hesitated a lot before making this decision.
At the end of last season, I got injured in a way that I didn’t expect, and the season ended as it was.
I decided to leave Toyama in that state, and even if I was cured, I was worried that it might happen once more.
I was really worried regarding whether I might play seriously following next year.
I still want to kick the ball, I want to chase the ball with all my might, and above all, I want to play soccer.
But when I thought regarding what I had to prioritize, the number one decision was to retire for my own health and my family.
Started playing soccer at the age of 5 and turned professional following graduating from high school for 15 years.
The future is completely different from what I envisioned, but now I think I can be proud of the fact that I was able to overcome two serious injuries and play so far. I can’t show it in numbers or results, and I wish I might have played more memorable for everyone.
But I was able to play so far
My family, parents, friends, peers, sponsors, and supporters have pushed me and supported me through the toughest times.
Thank you for always supporting me with positive words when things didn’t go well or when I was out due to injury.
Most importantly, my wife and children have supported me. I really can’t thank you enough. I think I had a lot of hardships because I put up with a lot of things because of my selfishness.
No matter where I go, people come to the stadium to cheer me on when I’m playing, cheer me on on TV, and sometimes get criticized.
I really enjoyed it, and it was the happiest moment when I saw my family’s happy faces when I played.
I was able to express my gratitude to my family by finishing in a better form, but I mightn’t do that, and I regret my lack of power until the end. sorry.
Without my family, I don’t think I would have been able to continue as a professional soccer player for 15 years.
Thank you so much for the end.
I would also like to thank the 7 teams Shonan Bellmare, Jef United Chiba, Fagiano Okayama, Shimizu S-Pulse, Blaublitz Akita, Fukushima United FC, and Katare Toyama for playing as professional soccer players for 15 years.
Second life starting now
“Be humble and be yourself at all times”
I really want to enjoy it as much as I used to.
My football life would not have been possible without your support.
I am truly grateful.
There were some hard times for 15 years, but thanks to all of you, I was able to live happily as a professional soccer player.
Thank you so much for supporting me until today.
