Many of you have noticed his absence over the past few weeks. Know that Annie-Soleil Proteau is regaining strength… to our delight!
Absent from Salut Bonjour for a few weeks, Annie-Soleil Proteau wanted to reassure her community. It was first through a message, shared on Facebook and Instagram, that our cultural columnist told us that she had been hospitalized.
Despite her three doses of vaccine, Annie-Soleil Proteau contracted the COVID-19 virus shortly following the holidays. Due to a weakness – already known – in the lungs, his situation deteriorated visibly.
“One evening, I had a big weakness, I fell. I mightn’t breathe normally, I was coughing as if my lungs and my heart were going to come out of my body, and I ended up in the hospital, ”she says.
Doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia, in addition to finding water around his heart. By her own admission, the last few weeks have been a real roller coaster, which has weakened her considerably.
Despite the fatigue, she confirms that the worst is behind her. “Today, I feel that the difficult end is over, I have less and less pain and I can make sentences without choking,” she underlines.
Now back home, Annie-Soleil Proteau wanted to thank all those who inquired regarding her condition, without knowing what was happening to her. She also wanted to highlight the tremendous work of the workers in the health network.
“I want to salute the healthcare workers who took care of me, put me through batteries of tests, reassured me: THANK YOU! We need you so much. You have all my gratitude and respect,” she added.
It is still impossible to know when she will resume her role with the Hi Hello weekend team. One thing is certain, she is regaining her strength in order to be back at work very soon.
