Anna Schudt: Embracing Nature and Small Town Living – An Intimate Portrait

2023-11-22 10:32:00

Right at the beginning of the conversation with her, during a quick question round in which Anna Schudt has to choose between two terms in a matter of seconds (see info box)it comes straight out of the box: she prefers the small town atmosphere to metropolitan air.

Anna Schudt has lived in Düsseldorf for twelve years

Now the actress and native of Konstanz has been living in Düsseldorf, following all the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia with over 600,000 inhabitants, for twelve years.

And yet the ex-crime scene detective prefers the atmosphere of a small town. The manageable, the quieter, the closeness to nature. Her roots are there, and the 49-year-old visits her parents’ home on a regular basis.

Quick question roundThe bolded terms are what Anna Schudt prefers:
Constancy or Friedrichshafen
Obersee oder Untersee (of Lake Constance)
Nebelhorn oder Zugspitze
Baden or Württembergisch
Big city or Town
Cello or violin
Classic or pop
crime scene or call the police
winter or Sommer
Cologne or Düsseldorf (both the same)
Film or stage (both the same)
meat or vegetarian

“Nature,” reveals the actress, who also appears in the Sky production “Das Boot,” “is a panacea for me. And I find smallness relaxing.” The conversation with her takes place in the meeting room of a hotel in Berlin, a huge screen on the wall, numerous drinks on the table, the window slightly open.

Far enough to hear police and fire engine sirens or screeching tires at red lights. Big city atmosphere at the Gendarmenmarkt in the federal capital. Shrill and intrusive noises.

What a contrast to Anna Schudt’s stories at this very moment. She seems to immerse herself in the world of her youth, raves regarding running or jogging along the lake and then jumping into the water. “There is nothing more beautiful,” she asserts, and finally uses the superlative: “Lake Constance is the most beautiful landscape in Germany.”

Anna Schudt: At Tatort the atmosphere was more familiar

After 22 episodes in the ARD crime scene from Dortmund, the Konstanz native is now starring in the series “Das Boot”, a project from the Nazi era with a budget in the double-digit million range and international filming locations. A big difference to working in the crime scene team, as she says: “The atmosphere there was more familiar.” In 2012 she joined the ARD crime scene.

And of course, following she left, she was often asked why. “Standing still is not good,” she says and believes that it should be a matter of course to continue to educate yourself. And to be open to many things. For example for music. Anna Schudt plays the cello instrument (since the main role in the film “Laufen”, where she had scenes as a cello player, she has been practicing once more every day) and sings. Prerequisites for more?

No, she has no ambitions in this direction, assures Anna Schudt. After all, there are plenty of other tasks to deal with: as the mother of the other two sons (eleven and twelve) and as an actress who has to coordinate and arrange film offers with her husband – Moritz Führmann, 45, also an actor.

It can happen that one of them has to grudgingly refuse a request. “But we were always able to implement our heartfelt projects,” says the Baden resident, who is already looking forward to her next trip to the lake in the run-up to Christmas.
