Night Drive Malayalam Movie Review & Rating: ‘Night Drive’ is the latest film by director Vaishakh, who has directed hit films like ‘Pokkiriraja’ and ‘Pulimurugan’ with Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal. The film, starring Roshan Mathew and Anna Ben, tells the story of a nightmare.
Riya (Anna Ben) is the news anchor and producer of a major channel in Kerala. George (Roshan Mathew) has been Ria’s childhood friend. Georgie, who is looking for a job abroad, is running Uber at home. The two are in love. On Ria’s birthday night, the two decide to go on a ‘night drive’ together. There is an accident during that journey. The incident is linked to an incident in which Riya himself was brought out in connection with the state’s tourism minister, who was trying to capture state politics. The minister then attempts to tie the accident and the subsequent incident to Riya’s head. Knowing all this, the film moves on through George’s attempts to thwart such attempts and save Riya.
‘Night Drive’ is a film that is different from Vaishakh’s last two mass films ‘Pulimurugan’ and ‘Madhuraraja’. The film manages to entertain as well as inform. At the same time, the audience’s expectations on the director, Vaishakh, are being maintained. From beginning to end, the film manages to entertain as well as inform. The first part is full of small humorous moments and the second part is full of organizational scenes that can be expected in Vaishakh movies, giving a thrilling experience with small twists, making ‘Night Drive’ a movie that will appeal to all types of audiences.
The script of Abhilash Pillai also deserves applause for this. The screenplay is able to give the audience an idea of what’s next following the same scene and time. The story is presented very accurately without stretching at all. The fact that the story is told on a topic of contemporary relevance also brings the film closer to the audience.
The performances of Roshan Mathew and Anna Benn are noteworthy. Georgie Roshan and Rhea Anna Benn did the best. Roshan has made the occasional transition to the character of a very gentle Georgie great. Roshan is proving that he can handle mass action scenes as well.
Anna Benn portrays the character of Riya, a journalist, beautifully. Anna is getting a handshake in the scenes with Indrajith and Siddique. Anna presents all the changes that take place in the character when she sees a glimmer of hope in times of crisis. The Roshan-Anna combo, which came together following ‘Kappela’, has also worked well on Night Drive.
Indrajith also plays the role of Benny Moopan, a police officer. After the scene, Shajon in a police uniform and Siddique once once more shine as a politician. Actor Kalesh and Alexander Prashant put on a remarkable performance. Srividya also plays the role of Ammini Ayyappan. At the same time, Ranji Panicker’s character is not getting enough space. The other characters are played by Sohan Seenulal, Sudhir Karamana, Shaju Sridhar and Muthumani.
Shaji Kumar’s camera has been able to make ‘Night Drive’ more enjoyable by creating beautiful night scenes. Ranjin Raj’s music also plays a crucial role in making the film more thrilling. The background music of the climax scene is something to be noted.
‘Night Drive’ is a children’s film that starts out very light and slowly gives the impression of a thrilling ride with small twists and thrilling scenes.
